Prof. Muraleedharan V R
Professor VR Muraleedharan, a Development Economist, with primary research interest in the field of Healthcare Economics, has been teaching at the Department of HSS, IIT Madras, since 1988.
He is currently engaged in a five-year comparative research project on health economics and financing, funded by DFID (London), as part of a Consortium of 10 institutions (from India, Kenya, Tanzania, Thailand and South Africa, http://resyst.lshtm.ac.uk) . His most recent contribution to the book “Good Health at Low Cost: what makes an effective health system?” (2012) analyses developments in the healthcare delivery system of Tamil Nadu over the past 30 years. Currently, he is engaged in piloting Universal Health Coverage in two poor blocks of Tamil Nadu.

Dr. Sahu completed his doctoral research at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay in 2013. Prior to joining at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, he was working at the Madras School of Economics, Chennai. His research interests include industrial economics, energy economics and economics of global climate change. Recently, he received Prof. Raghuram Rajan’s “Young Scholar Grant Programme” to participate the NBER Summer Programme at Boston, USA. The research journals in which he has published include Journal of Economic Studies; Journal of Industry, Competition and Trade; Journal of Energy and Development, Singapore Economic Review and Current Science.
Vipin has done his Masters in Thermal System Design and is currently pursuing his Ph.D from IIT Madras. Prior joining CTaP he was working with Forbes Marshall in as a designer of expander used in cogeneration. His present research interests are in field of exergy analysis of energy systems and expander technology for CHP applications.
Dhipankumar is basically a Mechanical Engineer with a master’s in Resource Recovery – Sustainable Energy Technology, from University of Borås, Sweden.
Prior to joining CTaP, he worked as a Research Engineer with M/s Arrya Hi-Tech Energy on optimization of process design, construction, operation & maintenance of Biomass Gasifier on power generation and various thermal energy applications along with techno-economic assessment studies for various biomass based energy generation projects in South East Asia & East African countries.
At CTaP he is working on various assessment studies like energy consumption pattern in Indian Process Industries, opportunities for energy conservation, energy efficiency, optimizing firm level energy intensity and improving overall energy security by means of grid stabilization & by energy storage capacity building.
Rajesh is a B.Tech graduate in Information Technology and has keen interest on efficiently utilizing the colossal healthcare data. Previously he has worked on open source NSSO, Census, CMCHIS data, to yield more meaningful insights on the level of care delivered and to measure the effectiveness of the Healthcare System.
At CTaP, currently he is working on the project “Pilot Universal Health Coverage in Rural Areas of Tamil Nadu”, focusing on effective utilization of public primary health care services.
Janani is passionate towards waste to energy technology and specialized in biological treatment of biodegradable wastes. She has a biotechnology background and has pursued her masters in Sweden in Industrial biotechnology and Resource Recovery. She has professional experience in industrial wastewater treatment systems, domestic scale biogas plants and process such as Aerobic, Anaerobic, Annamox, Biogas Desulphurization, and Bio-methane potential assay.
At CTaP she is working on finding a suitable site in Chennai to implement decentralized wastewater treatment plant and analysis of potential opportunities to reuse the treated water in industrial sector.
